Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is all set to start his County stint with Worcestershire. While India are playing the one-day series in Sri Lanka, Ashwin has been rested. However, the fact is that Ashwin has been in and out of the team over the last year, and hence his ODI place seems under threat.

Indian bowling coach, Bharat Arun, however was quoted as saying in an Indian Express report, “Ashwin is also part of the ODI team which we are looking at. We would also like to give a lot of opportunities to other bowlers as well. And then we have a long-term plan in place. And then we will take a call accordingly.”

Ashwin has picked over 100 wickets in the last 20 Tests averaging 25. However, in ODIs, in the last year, he has averaged over 50.

Ravindra Jadeja too did not have a great time in the Champions Trophy. India have Axar Patel and Kedar Jadhav as other spinning options for the Sri Lanka series.
