Playing in his 50th Test at Colombo, Cheteshwar Pujara became the joint second-fastest Indian batsman to 4,000 Test runs

Playing in his 50th Test at Colombo, Cheteshwar Pujara became the joint second-fastest Indian batsman to 4,000 Test runs. He got there in 84 innings, the same number as Rahul Dravid. Virender Sehwag and Sunil Gavaskar both got there in 81 innings and are on top of the list.

With the milestone, he has left behind the likes of Sachin Tendulkar (86), Mohammad Azharuddin (88), Virat Kohli (89) and Gundappa Vishwanath (96).

In terms of world cricket Don Bradman is the fastest to 4,000 Test runs. He needed just 48 innings to get there. Behind him is Herbert Sutcliffe (68). West Indies legends Every Weekes and Viv Richards got there in 71 innings each.

Pujara made his Test debut in October 2010 making 72 in an Indian victory over Bangalore. However, since he has faced a few setbacks. He has scored 159 against New Zealand, and double hundreds against England and Australia.
